weltmeister Logo Meaning and History
WM Motor was founded in 2015 and quickly became one of the most promising Chinese startups, attracting investors who contributed a total of one billion dollars within just one year. Notable investors included Baidu and Tencent. However, the startup's losses exceeded its revenues, leading to bankruptcy status. Subsequently, the trademark Weltmeister was registered under which the company's electric car models are now presented.
The company was founded by Freeman Shen, who previously held management positions at Geely and Volvo Cars. Headquartered in Shanghai, research and development are conducted at the Sichuan branch located in Chengdu, with a regional representative office in Beijing. By the end of 2016, WM Motor began constructing its first plant in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, becoming the first Chinese electric vehicle company to establish its facility.
The Weltmeister brand currently offers two models: the EX5-Z and the EX6 Plus. Both models are built on the patented Ajax platform, designed to accommodate prismatic battery cells that allow for a range of 520 km on a single charge according to the NEDC calculation methodology.
The vehicles utilize three core technologies: the Living Motion electric drivetrain, the Living Pilot intelligent driving assistance system featuring L2 ADAS autonomous driving functions, and the Living Engine operating system, which provides intelligent connectivity and interactive features within the cabin.
What is Weltmeister?
Weltmeister is the name of a Chinese manufacturer of electric cars, which was established in 2015 as WM Motor and renamed in 2017. Today the brand offers two models of cars. Both current models are built on the patented Ajax platform.
In terms of visual identity, Weltmeister's branding is quite innovative. The logo on the vehicle serves as a battery charge indicator, illuminating all five bars when fully charged. As the battery discharges, bars go out, with the last bar glowing red when the battery reaches 20% discharge, allowing users to quickly assess the battery level.
The Weltmeister logo on the steering wheel is designed to resemble the northern lights and symbolizes five pillars: people, car, platform, cloud, and communication channels. The emblem consists of five vertical lines with rounded ends, inscribed within a circular frame of equal thickness. The lines are arranged in a dynamic, non-linear fashion, adding a sense of playfulness to the design.
The official logo of the automaker includes lettering positioned below the emblem, rendered in uppercase bold geometric sans-serif typeface in plain black.
The uppercase lettering in the primary Weltmeister logo is set in a custom sans-serif typeface with distinctive features. Based on a modern geometric font, it includes unique elements, such as rounded ends on the vertical bars of the 'T' and 'I,' creating a visual balance with the lines in the emblem.
The color palette of the Weltmeister visual identity is primarily minimalistic, combining black and white. However, it can also appear in a more vibrant mix of shades, featuring white lettering on a solid blue background, complemented by a glowing gradient green emblem.
