dodge hellcat Logo Meaning and History

In May 2014, Dodge officially introduced powerful versions of the Challenger coupe, designated as SRT and SRT Hellcat. The name Hellcat pays homage to the American Grumman F6F Hellcat, a World War II aircraft.

The base Challenger SRT received several distinctive exterior features, including a specially shaped hood, front splitter, new rear apron, and LED headlights. The more powerful SRT Hellcat version is equipped with large spoilers and an active air intake replacing one of the headlights. Additionally, the sports car's front fenders feature emblems with the inscription 'Supercharged'.

Under the hood of the Challenger SRT is a naturally aspirated 485-horsepower Hemi V8 engine with a 6.4-liter capacity, producing 643 Nm of torque. The SRT Hellcat version received a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine with a supercharger, generating over 600 hp, making it the most powerful engine in the history of the Chrysler Group.

For the first time in Chrysler's history, the Challenger SRT Hellcat came with two key fobs. The red key fob unlocks the engine's full power, while the black one limits it.

In 2023, the manufacturer announced that production of the Challenger and Charger would soon be discontinued. However, it was noted that the Durango SRT Hellcat will continue production until at least the 2024 model year.
