Company Overview
The DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) is an American car manufacturer founded by automotive executive John DeLorean in 1975. It is best known for producing the iconic stainless steel DeLorean DMC-12 sports car with gull-wing doors and for its short-lived and tumultuous history, which ended in receivership and bankruptcy in 1982. In 1995, mechanic Stephen Wynne from Liverpool established a separate company under the "DeLorean Motor Company" name, acquiring the remaining parts inventory and the "DMC" logo trademark. The current DeLorean Motor Company, based near Houston, is not connected to the original company but provides support to DeLorean car owners. Known as DMC (Texas), it operates with five authorized, franchised dealers located in Bonita Springs, Florida; Crystal Lake, Illinois; Huntington Beach, California; Bellevue, Washington; and Hem, Netherlands.
