Asüna was created to provide Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealers with a lineup of import-style vehicles to compete with the Geo brand sold by Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealerships.

The Asüna lineup consisted of rebadged vehicles from other manufacturers, including models from Isuzu, Suzuki, and Daewoo.

Notable models included the Asüna Sunfire (rebadged Isuzu Impulse/Geo Storm), Sunrunner (rebadged Suzuki Escudo/GMC Tracker), and SE/GT (rebadged Daewoo LeMans).

Asüna was one of two successors to the Passport marque, which had a similar intent of selling import-style vehicles in Canada.
