stellantis Logo Meaning and History
FCA and PSA signed a merger agreement in December 2019, and on January 16, 2021, the merger process between Peugeot S.A. (Groupe PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) was completed, resulting in the formation of Stellantis. The name 'Stellantis' derives from the Latin verb 'stello,' meaning 'to illuminate with stars,' while 'stella' in Italian translates to 'star.' This name reflects the companies' long history of automobile manufacturing spanning over 120 years.
The partners aimed to move away from the acronyms FCA and PSA, while also avoiding a hierarchical structure within the new entity, as the merger was established on a parity basis. According to a joint statement from FCA and Groupe PSA, the trademarks and logos of each individual company will remain unchanged, with brand ownership shared equally at a 50:50 ratio. Today, Stellantis operates 14 automobile brands.
In addition to producing vehicles under well-known brands, Stellantis aims to become a global leader in the car-sharing market in the coming years. This strategy will enable the company to generate revenue not only from car sales but also from rentals and services. To support this vision, Stellantis is developing its short-term rental services, Free2Move and Leasys, and in 2022, it decided to acquire Share Now, a rival company previously owned by BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Stellantis is the name of a relatively young concern, which was formed in early 2021 through the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA) and PSA Group. The merger allowed it to become one of the five largest automobile concerns in the world.
Stellantis's visual identity aligns with contemporary branding trends, featuring clean, futuristic lettering and a minimalist emblem. Notably, the logo avoids the use of black, steering clear of a strict design aesthetic.
The initial logo design for Stellantis, created in July 2020, featured simple black lettering on a plain white background. The script was set in a progressive sans-serif typeface with extended character contours, and the letter 'A' was represented by two diagonal lines without a horizontal line. This beta version included no graphical additions.
Later in 2020, Stellantis introduced its official logo, retaining the same lettering style as the pre-launch version but rendered in a deep shade of blue. This logo features a series of solid blue dots arranged in a circle around the stylized letter 'A.' The dots vary in thickness, with bolder dots positioned closer to the character.
The uppercase extended lettering in the primary Stellantis logo is designed in a unique futuristic typeface that lacks commercial analogs, although some characters resemble those in fonts like Baradig or Snasm.
The color palette of Stellantis's visual identity is anchored in an intense shade of blue, a fresh and cool tone typically associated with reliability, professionalism, and excellence.
